Frequently Asked Questions About Plumbing in Florida

Why should I hire a licensed plumber?

You may be able to temporarily fix a plumbing leak or a clog, but getting to the root of the problem is important. A licensed plumber will have both the skill and the tools to detect the location and cause of plumbing leaks and clogs. Your plumber should also be licensed and insured in the state of Florida. Insurance protects you in case any damage occurs on your property. If you're looking for a Ponte Verde plumber, give us a call!

How can I prevent leaking pipes?

A water softener will make your plumbing pipes last longer. They dissolve the sediments in the water that causes pipe corrosion. Leaks usually form at connections or where pipes have been corroded.

What can I do about the low water pressure in my home?

If you have low water pressure in your home, a professional plumber will need to figure out what's wrong. If you have low water pressure or any other problems, you can call our Ponte Verde plumbers at Steven's Plumbing to inspect your plumbing lines. There are several things that can cause low water pressure. Here are a few of the most common causes of low water pressure:

  • If you're having a problem with just one faucet, the water line could be leaking or the faucet could be clogged with sediment buildup.
  • If there's low water pressure coming from all the faucets and you're on a water well, it could be a problem with the well.
  • If there's low water pressure only when you use the hot water, your water heater may be producing sediment build up in the hot water lines.

Do I need a water softener?

Many people don't worry about getting a water softener even if they have hard water. However, we recommend that you at least look into getting one if you do. Hard water contains a lot of sediments. Sediments corrode your pipes and everything else connected to your plumbing lines including dishwashers, water heaters, freezer ice machines, washing machines, showerheads, faucets, and other fixtures. It's also not good to regularly drink hard water.

Do you install chemical-free water softeners?

Yes, Steven's Plumbing can custom build and install Salt-Free Water Softeners for your home. Whether you have a water well or not, we can help you to install a chemical-free water softener that will greatly improve the quality of your water.

In the Ponte Vedra area, getting the rotten egg smell of sulfur from the water lines is becoming more of a problem for everyone. If you deal with a rotten egg smell every time you turn on a faucet, we suggest installing a premium drinking water purification system as well.

What's the difference between water filtration and water purification?

Water filtration systems remove particles while water purification systems focus on removing bacteria, chemicals, and other biological contaminants.

If you're wondering which to get, keep in mind that many water purification systems available today will both purify and filter the water. Let us help you choose the right system for your home. We can find out what type of problems you're having and make sure your new system will eliminate the problems.
